Debris Management

If you are in a leadership role for your jurisdiction, here are some debris management considerations:

If you exhaust your resources (staff, equipment, space, debris sites) you can request assistance through the Emergency Management Office.

        • Office number 320-634-7850

If requested, we can activate a site to help relieve pressure on local jurisdiction’s debris sites.

In the event Pope County declares a local disaster, the expenses related to opening a temporary debris site can be used towards meeting the State threshold for disaster aid.

If the incident produces large amounts of damage, cities and townships are asked to report initial damages and estimated damage costs. This is critical to the process of determining if a local disaster can be declared.

    *Documentation is extremely important.

Things you must document for Debris Management and Damage Assessment:

When there is a disaster declaration

If there is a State or Federal disaster declaration, Pope County Emergency Management will coordinate appropriate meetings with the State.

      Important note

In the event Pope County exhausts county resources, Emergency Management can request assistance through mutual aid agreements with other counties and the State.
