Extreme cold is back in the area this week, with a multi-day stretch of sub-zero temperatures and wind chills. The coldest period will be Monday night through Thursday morning with wind chills of -20° and below and nighttime temperatures in the teens below zero.
During the upcoming blast of bitter cold, frostbite will be possible on exposed skin in less than 30 minutes (and possibly even quicker).
Those without proper clothing and shelter could experience hypothermia in the expected weather conditions.
There are simple things you can do to stay safer, like:
- Dress in layers
- Cover all exposed skin
- Limit time outdoors
- Bring pets indoors
