Otter Tail Power Company (OTPC) has announced that the Western Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (WMMPA), Missouri River Energy Services (MRES), and Otter Tail Power have received notice from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) that a final route permit has been ordered by the PUC for the proposed Big Stone South to Alexandria (BSS-A) 345 kilovolt power transmission line.
On Thursday, June 25, the PUC issued an order issuing a final routing of the BSS-A transmission line, which includes portions of the route through western and northern Pope County.

A map of the portion of the route ordered in Pope County appears above, and detailed maps providing more detail on the area of Pope County affected as provided in the PUC’s order can be found at this link.
The proposed BSS-A line is a project of OTPC, WMMPA, and MRES, and the project is permitted by the State of Minnesota’s Public Utilities Commission. It is not proposed or regulated by Pope County, and this information is simply posted as a public service to Pope County residents and interested parties.
