As the construction work on the portion of the State Highway 114 project in Pope County is completed, members of the public interested in project updates for the rest of the summer season are encouraged to visit MnDOT’s State Highway 114 project page here and sign up with MnDOT for the latest project updates on that page if interested.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that work on the State Highway 114 project is now shifting from culvert replacement to roundabout construction at 114’s intersection with State Highway 27 in Douglas County, but detours and traffic restrictions remain that warrant the public’s attention:
Hwy 114: Last culvert replacement south of Hwy 27, roundabout work at Hwy 27 starts
As work wraps up at Pipe 11, crews will start on the temporary bypass along Highway 27. This bypass will be used during the roundabout construction for east/west traffic on Highway 27. The bypass will take about one week to construct, and then crews will get started on constructing the roundabout.
Local traffic may encounter some restrictions at the completed culvert sites when paving crews are back to pave those areas as well. Please travel with caution and obey traffic control.
All thru-traffic should continue to follow the detour on I-94, Highway 29 and Highway 55.Â
During the roundabout construction, Highway 27 will remain passable for east/west traffic, but you will NOT be able to access Highway 114 north or south from the Highway 27 intersection. Please plan ahead and consider your alternate route.
More project information
We have two years of projects scheduled on Highway 114. This year’s project includes culvert replacements between Highway 55 and I-94, and roundabout construction at the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 114. Next year, we’ll come back to resurface the entire roadway.
Check the project website for project information, construction updates, and MnDOT contacts. We’re here to help!
