Never provide payment, banking information, or other data to an unknown sender impersonating Pope County staff through an unexpected email, but instead contact Pope County through a known, local, verified phone number or through the Pope County website at popecountymn.gov about such contacts or requests.
Please be aware that SCAM emails are once again being reported that appear to be sent out from Pope County staff from the “Planning Advisory Commission” with an Invoice requesting payment of a “fee” by wire.
The email may originate from a @usa.com email address, like shown below. The usa.com email address is not a government or other official address and is popular with people pretending to be government officials. This is a fake, malicious email and is not from Pope County Land & Resource Management or any other County office.

PLEASE NOTE, all emailed correspondence from Pope County will ONLY come from an @popecountymn.gov email address. Additionally, billing or invoices will never be sent via email from the Land & Resource Management department.
If you receive one of these emails, do not reply to the message or click on the link provided, and do not provide personal information to unknown or unsolicited entities.
